We are very proud to announce that Uday Chopra (AK Sinova, JGU) is among the new members of the Gutenberg Academy for Young Researchers. Congratulations! He was admitted to the academy in a ceremony on April 23 together with 11 other PhD students from all scientific disciplines at JGU. The academy brings together up to 25 of JGU's best PhD students and artists and provides them with the chance to participate in an interdisciplinary exchange of ideas at the highest intellectual level.

Jairo Sinova met up with the representatives of the DFG and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the APS March Meeting in LA - putting on the Humboldt bowtie was the biggest challenge of the meeting.

The talk by Jairo Sinova at the APS March Meeting in LA overflowed into the corridor - a larger room would have helped, but the interest in the field is clear.

This year we repeated an experience we already made last February: You better avoid wearing your favourite tie on Weiberfastnacht, the German tradition of the women's carnival, as on that day, everything that dangles freely is likely to be... well... cut off.
